What We Do

There are many ways we can work with you to help you transform the outcomes for pupils at your school. To find out more or discuss how we can support your specific needs, please contact us for an informal conversation.

The main ways that we work are:

Through Consultancy

One of our team will come to your school, listen to what you tell us about your Inclusion needs, and collaboratively come up with some bespoke solutions.

Through Delivery of Key Services

An Inclusion Expert Associate can offer temporary SENCo services for a school without a SENCo in role, assessment of access arrangements and applications, or training to staff on aspects of Inclusion and quality first teaching.

Through Online Resources

Our impressive and broad set of online resources complements our consultancy, and includes areas such as training for teachers and TAs.

The types of consultancy and training most commonly used by schools are:

Pupil Premium Review

The regulations on the Pupil Premium are clear and there are lots of sources of advice - but we find most school leaders are still struggling to feel like they really have a grip of how to make the Pupil Premium both work effectively for their pupils and fulfil the requirements of the regulations and Ofsted.

We will visit your school for a one-day intensive review to meet your Pupil Premium management team. In the morning we'll look at all your hard and soft data, your systems and your financial mapping, get to know your setting and your team and identify specific issues and trends. We’ll help you to see the wood from the trees. From this, we’ll work with you to build a specific, detailed and practical implementation plan. It will cover everything you need to do to move towards Outstanding. Your plan will identify ‘who’, ‘what’ and ‘when’. In addition, you'll receive a lifetime login to our online Pupil Premium Handbook. The Handbook reinforces and reminds you of everything you will need to know and do in relation to the Pupil Premium and will help you implement your plan.

We won't sugar-coat things - but we are not there to catch you out. We want to make sure that your team feels genuinely confident that you are on top of the Pupil Premium, and we know you will see a difference in pupil outcomes.

After your visit we are on the end of the phone to support you, clarify anything you are unsure of and offer advice if you need it.

"One school saw their attainment gap half in six months after using our implementation plan. Another won a financial PP award from the DfE."

SEN Review

SENCos receive training - but in our CEO's personal experience, nothing prepares you fully for the real-life demands of this challenging role. Even with the best SENCos and leadership teams, we find that there are significant time and money savings to be made for your team - which means you can increase your impact on the progress of pupils with additional needs. We still find that, although the SEN Code of Practice (CoP) puts the responsibility for meeting need in the classroom firmly on the classroom teacher, communication isn't clear and consistent and teachers often haven't taken on board what needs to happen and when.

We will visit your school for a one-day intensive review to meet your Inclusion team, including your SENCo. In the morning we'll review all of your SEN management systems and data, looking at communication with staff, identification of need, interventions and review processes. We'll be making sure that you are fully compliant with all your legal responsibilities under the Code as a minimum - but we want to make sure that every action taken has the greatest possible impact on pupil outcomes and that all potential pitfalls can be avoided. Then we’ll work with you to build a specific, detailed and practical implementation plan. It will cover everything you need to do to move towards outstanding SEN practice. Your plan will identify ‘who’, ‘what’ and ‘when’. In addition to this, you'll receive a lifetime login to our online SEN CoP Pack. The Pack reinforces and reminds you of everything you need to know and do in relation to the Code and will help you implement your plan, providing you with many downloadable templates to ensure your documentation is up to scratch.

We will provide totally honest, constructive feedback in order to build a path to success together – but won’t point any fingers if there is a lot of work to do. Our Associates will have seen worse - and helped to transform it!

After your visit we are on the end of the phone to support you, clarify anything you are unsure of and offer advice if you need it.

Online Training

Our online training course for teachers and TAs is unique - you won't find another one like this. We know, because we tried. In school after school we would see the same need for skill building and training - and as we couldn’t find a course to recommend, we built one.

We know that the daily classroom environment really is the front line. Classroom teachers and TAs are the first to see clues to underlying issues through presenting behaviours. They also have the first opportunity to respond to the needs of the pupil and start the process of change for the better. And there's more pressure now than ever before with the SEN Code of Practice putting the responsibility for meeting need firmly on the classroom teacher's shoulders.

The key skill is differentiation but in order to use this successfully, teachers must be able to accurately identify presenting behaviours and choose from a range of responses and strategies - while they do everything else, and often with little training.

Our team of experts has created a series of modules which can be used on their own or in combination as a comprehensive training. Whilst our courses are online, each module contains coursework in the classroom, cementing learning and improving classroom practice.

Ofsted Preparation

Over the course of one day, one of our Ofsted-trained consultants will look at your school systems, help you to identify any areas of concern, and work with you to develop solutions.

We will help you to articulate the challenges facing your school, and will show you how to use your soft data in conjunction with your hard data to tell the story of your school.

What we do for you

  • Confirm your self-evaluation
  • Clarify your school story
  • Find solutions to your concerns

SENCO Services

We can help you get your SEND systems up to scratch or provide you with a temporary SENCO to cover a period of vacancy or staff illness. Our consultants won’t just keep things ticking over, but will drive forward inclusion in your school. We can also help with interviewing for a new SENCO.

Provision mapping: Impact, Time and Budget Saving

Most schools we come across are able to save tens of thousands of pounds on provisions whilst significantly increasing the impact of their strategy. This applies across the Inclusion spectrum, to areas such as SEND, the Pupil Premium, Gifted and Talented, and English as an Additional Language.

We often tell head teachers that we would be more than happy to be paid just a percentage of what we save you! However, please contact us to find out our very reasonable day rates.

What we do for you

  • Provide a full review of all interventions
  • Advise you on how to save money and time
  • Support you to restructure your provisions, both at a strategic and a detailed level

In one inner-city secondary school, we built provisions from scratch and the school expenditure reduced to £65,000 – where they had previously cost over £250,000.

There is no silver bullet for what works - don’t trust any advisor who says that there is and promises a one size fits all fix. The only solution is to understand the specific needs of your students and to develop bespoke skills and provisions to meet them.

Differentiation Training

Differentiating the curriculum is a key skill for staff to include all children with a variety of additional needs – from gifted and talented through to those on the SEND register. We can provide differentiation training for teachers and TAs so they can confidently plan differentiations and provide on-the-spot differentiation as required. Your staff will understand how to use pre- and over-learning to enhance children’s understanding of the curriculum. They will understand how to use simple techniques to ensure that all children can stay engaged.

Expert Witness

Unfortunately, schools sometimes are taken to tribunal after they have excluded a student. We can act as an expert witness for schools on their inclusion practice. We can also help you avoid going to tribunal.
